The Ladies Love Masked Dad

Masked Dad now lives with Nadine Charity Laura Wickstrom and Katherine Wickstrom and their newly acquired Masked Dads
Masked Dad spent his Saturday morning at the Barnwell Center's art market.

Thank you to Nadine Charity, Laura Wickstrom and Katherine Wickstrom for acquiring some Masked Dads and giving him a new home. What better way for a dad to spend the day before Father's Day than on Shreveport's riverfront? We saw lots of families enjoying the market and the splash fountain.

Masked Dad Nekkid

Masked Dad # 14 Nekkid on Laundry Day
In Louisiana, laundry day is Monday. It's also the day we eat red beans and rice. Except Masked Dad. No gas making foods on days he has to wrestle. His co-workers appreciate it.

Grizzly Smith 1932 - 2010

Interview with Jerry Usher about Grizzly Smith and the years they worked together. Who would have thought Grizzly could sew well enough to make curtains?

Wrestling a Bear? Protect Your Nuts

Masked Dad uses the term "nuts" while Jerry Usher, the inspiration for MD, is not so blunt. The word is testicles.

P.S. We're sorry to hear about the passing of wrestling legend Grizzly Smith. Jerry has more to say about Mr. Smith in this video and a couple more on the way. Thanks for watching.

Could Masked Dad really be Nacho Libre?

Masked Dad by Kathryn Usher
KRMD's Todd Nixon thinks Masked Dad looks familiar. "Ha, ha! Looks like Nacho Libre!" was his Facebook comment after seeing Masked Dad.

Nixon is the program director and afternoon drive guy at country music radio station KRMD. He's also a dad who blogs about his fathering adventures.

Tab is for Sissies

Masked Dad #7

Masked Dad's got a new home. He's on Etsy. Go getcha some.

Waist Bling

Masked Dad #13 Masked Dad Wins a New Belt Title
This is why he makes all those sacrifices, like only eating unglazed donuts and tanning with baby oil and iodine. It's so he'll look his ring tanned best when he wins yet another championship belt.

These belts are the real reason Masked Dad could never work in an office. Why work hard 50 or so hours a week and only get a piece of paper that says "Employee of the Month," when you can work hard 5 hours a week and get a shiny piece of waist bling? Well, the waist bling reason and the ladies reason. Chicks seem to want to date wrestlers more than they want to date bookkeepers.

Masked Dad Tenderized

Masked Dad #11 Masked Dad Smells the Roses
Uh. Oh. Someone musta captured this on their smartphone while Masked Dad wasn't looking. This is one fella who doesn't wanna be caught being tender.

Masked Dad #11 Masked Dad Smells the Roses is now in the collection of Su Stella and Curt Harville.

Southern Maid? Krispy Kreme? Shipley?

Masked Dad #8 Masked Dad Eats a Donut
Masked Dad's got all kinds of favorite donut places. It just depends on what city he's in.

But what he really likes to do is to get to the donut store when the donuts are being made and ask for a dozen, hot, plain and unglazed. It's not that he counts calories, it's that a man's gotta do what, what a man's gotta do to keep in belt-title winning shape.

Jerry Usher - the Inspiration for Masked Dad

The Day Jerry Wrestled the Bear
Jerry Usher is my dad. He was a professional wrestler in the 1960s and 1970s. And, yes, he really did wrestle a bear.

Some of the folks he worked with in his wrestling career include: Leroy McGuirk, Danny Hodge, Bill Watts, Dusty Rhodes, Ernie Ladd, Junkyard Dog, Jim Ross, Grizzly Smith, Ted DiBiase, Andre the Giant, Dick Murdoch, and Skandar Akbar.
